K-5 Music Arts Teacher - 1.0 FTE Continuing

 

Freeman School District seeks a passionate and innovative Elementary Music Teacher to join our K-5 learning community. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of music while also integrating elements of technology, engineering, and art to suppport whole-child development and 21st-century learning skills. Reports to:  Building Principals

 

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Implements district and building philosophies and goals by delivering engaging general music instruction to K-5 students incorporating singing, rhythm, movement, instruments, and musical literacy.
  2. Design and implement standards-based music curriculum aligned to state and national benchmarks.
  3. Integrate technology and engineering concepts through tools such as music composition software, digital instruments, audio editing programs, and interdisciplinary projects (e.g., building instruments, sound wave exploration).
  4. Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to develop cross-curricular experiences that connect STEM and the arts.
  5. Organize and direct performances and showcases that celebrate student creativity and learning throughout the school year.
  6. Foster a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment where all students feel valued and capable of success.
  7. Utilize assessment data to differentiate instruction and provide feedback supporting student growth in skills and creativity.
  8. Counsels pupils when academic and behavior problems arise, including parents when appropriate.
  9. Interacts positively with students, professional associates, and patrons of the school district.
  10. Attends meetings as required. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
  11. Assists in the evaluation of curricular programs and the selection and evaluation of instructional equipment and materials.
  12. Provides academic guidance and counseling for students under his/her direction and communicates with parents and student counselor concerning academic progress.
  13. Collaborates effectively and consistently with content area team members, special education team and paraprofessionals support staff.
  14. Performs other related duties as required.

Terms of Employment:

This is a 1.0 FTE continuing contract beginning the 2025-2026 school year (August 18, 2025).  Salary is based upon placement on the salary schedule.
