EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHER - NON-CONTINUING
1.0 FTE Non-Continuing
Reports to: Building Principal
Major Responsibilities:
- Implement district and building philosophies and goals.
- Provide an appropriate individualized program for Preschool (P)/Transitional Kindergarten (TTK) students eligible for special education under any federal category and/or deemed necessary for intensive intervention within a Response To Intervention (RTI) model.
- Work as a member of a general and special education team in order to teach academic, social, life, and behavioral skills to students and to ensure implementation of an educational program.
- Implement adopted curricular programs, direct instruction curriculum, provide for individual learning needs of students, and maintain and consistently utilize progress monitoring data.
- Plan, develop, write, and implement IEPs as required by federal and state law. Monitor all areas of individual student IEPs, including academic and behavioral progress and implementation of interventions based on individual student maintained data. Complete quarterly progress reports on each student.
- Perform functional behavior assessments, develop behavior plans, and consistently perform behavioral interventions.
- Teach positive behavior intervention strategies and be responsible for constructive classroom management and environment.
- Maintain appropriate individual student records.
- Communicate and consult with parents and staff concerning education and interventions on a regular basis.
- Assist in coordination of services and support staff.
- Maintain and promote own personal professional growth through appropriate class work, workshops, reading of professional materials, etc.
- Be able to assist (physically and verbally) and move with child to various sites (e.g. outside for recess/bus, gym for P.E., stage for music, library and bathroom (assisting with diapers and toileting training).
- Must be flexible in working with students assigned to your caseload.
- May require working with medically fragile student(s), under the direction from the school nurse.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- ECE Early Childhood Education Certification
- Must favorably pass the Washington State Patrol/FBI background check.
- Preference given to those with experience in Special Education working with students with behavioral, cognitive, academic, and adaptive needs.
- Preference given to those with experience working with at-risk and behaviorally disabled students.
- Preference given to those applicants with AIMSWEB and IEP Online experience.
- Preference given to those trained in RTI, PBIS, and Right Response.
- Preference given to quality current references.
- Must submit a complete application packet.
Terms of Employment:
- This is a 1.0 FTE non-continuing contract beginning with the 2025-2026 school year.
- Salary is based upon placement on the salary schedule.
- Benefits – Medical/Dental/Vision through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) are provided for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year.
- Additional benefits may include sick leave, personal days, and paid holidays.
