FREEMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
KINDERGARTEN TEACHER - 1.0 FTE - Non-Continuing for the 2025-2026 School Year
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implements district and building philosophies and goals.
- Implements adopted curricular programs, state standards/required assessments and provide for individual learning needs of students.
- Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school district.
- Uses a variety of instructional modes to present subject matter in the classroom.
- Administers tests/screenings to evaluate pupil progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress. Provides for individual differences in the learning needs of students.
- Prepares lessons, corrects papers and homework.
- Maintains school-wide expectations in classroom and non-academic areas. Provides classroom climate which is based upon mutual respect, rapport, fairness and consistency.
- Counsels pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise.
- Discusses pupils' academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents.
- Interacts positively with students, professional associates, and patrons of the school district.
- Coordinates class field trips.
- Attends meetings as required. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Performs related duties such as sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations, assists pupils in selecting course of study, and counsel students in adjustment and academic problems.
- Assists in the evaluation of curricular programs and the selection and evaluation of instructional equipment and materials including classroom-based assessments required by state.
- Provides academic guidance and counseling for students under his/her direction and communicates with parents and student counselor concerning academic progress.
- Promotes the District’s educational and accreditation goals through parent conferences and related activities.
- Maintains appropriate student records.
- Maintains and promote own personal professional growth through appropriate workshops, reading of professional materials and participating in professional development opportunities.
- Collaborates effectively and consistently with grade level team members, grade level bands, special education team and para professionals support staff.
- Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate.
- Must possess an endorsement in elementary education.
- Must favorably pass the Washington State Patrol/FBI background check.
- Demonstrate mature behavior and ability to use sound judgment in communicating with students, parents, staff, and community.
- Demonstrated success by training/experience which recognizes all children as learners.
- Preference given to quality current references.
- Must submit a complete application packet.
Terms of Employment:
This is a 1.0 FTE non-continuing contract for the 2025/2026 school year. Salary is based upon placement on the salary schedule.
