Certified School Psychologist - 1.0 FTE Continuing - 5 Days/Week, Mon-Fri

Reports to: Student Services Director
Summary: The School Psychologist provides comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations; collaborates with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams; and implements data-based decision-making to support student success within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
Responsibilities:
- Interpret and follow federal, state, and district regulations and processes regarding Special Education, Section 504 and tiered- intervention frameworks (MTSS, RTI, PBIS).
- Conduct individualized psychoeducational testing, analyze and interpret results in compliance with WAC and IDEA.
- Write comprehensive evaluation/re-evaluation reports used for determining eligibility for special education services.
- Work collaboratively with school-based teams to develop social/emotional, academic, and behavior interventions for students at risk for failure in school and those who are eligible for Special Education or Section 504.
- Interpret and share evaluation results/data with parents and others during Special Education eligibility meetings, and participate in other meetings, as needed/requested.
- Coordinate implementation of Section 504 services in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act including facilitating an evaluation process, leading 504 team meetings and developing/monitoring accommodation plans.
- Direct and manage the transition process for children moving from early intervention services (IDEA Part C) to preschool special education services (IDEA Part B) at age three including collaboration with early intervention providers and agencies.
- Organize and prioritize daily, weekly, monthly schedule for timely work completion.
- Provide specific recommendations in evaluation reports, based on student strengths and needs as determined by assessment, discussion, and observation.
- Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessment as needed or directed and assist in developing positive support plans and behavior plans.
- Provides individual and group services to eligible students for the purpose of improving educational performance, behavior and social-emotional outcomes.
- Provide appropriate staff development activities within the scope of practice.
- Serve as a resource person to help classroom teachers understand special education, children's abilities, achievements, and attitudes.
- Effectively communicate in writing and verbally with others.
- Maintain confidentiality, per FERPA guidelines.
- Participate in district and building-level MTSS/SAT meetings.
- Consult with support agencies and refer students/families as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in advocating for policies and practices that create a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) that yields positive student outcomes in the areas of academics, social/emotional and behavior.
- Experience in developing and facilitating professional development activities.
- Willingness to work in both special and general education domains by consulting with staff on evidence-based practice and interventions for all learners.
- Familiarity with research findings specific to students with disabilities and evidence-based interventions to support learning and development.
- Demonstrate understanding and ability to implement a trauma-informed learning environment where the needs of the whole child are accounted for in classroom design.
Qualifications:
- Must possess an ESA Certificate with School Psychologist endorsement.
- Must possess a Master's Degree or higher in a job-related area.
- Must favorably pass the WSP/FBI background check.
- Displays mature behavior and ability to use sound judgment in communicating with students, parents, staff, and community.
- Demonstrated success by training/experience which recognizes all children as learners.
